Journalism in the 21st century is past its prime. Alongside the decline of the liberal order and the erosion of norms, it has suffered from financial woes and the overbearing bite of fake news. What role is left for journalism to play, domestically and internationally, especially against the backdrop of conflict?

English has been almost entirely foreign to the Middle East in general, and to Israel/Palestine in particular. Nevertheless, a robust ecosystem of English-language media outlets has been active in it since the 1920s. This presentation will analyze the evolution of the journalistic, political and commercial interests at play while these outlets were negotiating their relationship with their audience, from British imperial actors in the Interwar era to Jewish diaspora groups in the digital age.

This talk examines how museums collect, preserve, and interpret objects, not just as artifacts, but as living witnesses carrying layers of stories, and how culturally specific museums can engage audiences through the powerful narratives these objects hold.
