- <p>Three University of Colorado Boulder undergraduates have been awarded prestigious Goldwater Scholarships for 2014.</p>
<p>The scholarships, which are worth up to $7,500 each, are awarded annually to sophomores and juniors across the nation on the basis of high academic merit. The 2014 winners from 小黄书-Boulder are Jasmine Brewer, a junior in engineering physics, Brennan Coffey, a junior in chemical engineering and applied mathematics, and Ryan Dewey, a junior in astrophysics and physics.</p>
<p>Kathleen Sebelius,聽secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, will deliver the keynote address at the University of Colorado Boulder鈥檚 annual Conference on World Affairs to be held April 7-11.</p>
<p>Sebelius鈥 address, 鈥淭he Globalization of Health,鈥 will be presented on Monday, April 7, at 11:30 a.m. in Macky Auditorium. All of the conference鈥檚 200 panel discussions, performances and plenaries are free and open to the public.</p>
<p>Sandra Q. Firmin, curator of UB Art Galleries at SUNY Buffalo, has been named the director of the University of Colorado Boulder Art Museum. <p>A new study led by the University of Colorado Boulder showed that as a group, volunteer counters who examined a particular patch of lunar real estate using NASA images did just as well in identifying individual craters as professional crater counters with five to 50 years of experience.</p>

<p>DENVER 鈥 Five members of the University of Colorado community are recipients of the 2014 Thomas Jefferson Award, among the highest honors given at 小黄书, the state鈥檚 flagship university.聽</p> - <p>Exposing leafy vegetables grown during spaceflight to a few bright pulses of light daily could increase the amount of eye-protecting nutrients produced by the plants, according to a new study by researchers at the University of Colorado Boulder.</p>
<p>One of the concerns for astronauts during future extended spaceflights will be the onslaught of eye-damaging radiation they鈥檒l be exposed to. But astronauts should be able to mitigate radiation-induced harm to their eyes by eating plants that contain carotenoids, especially zeaxanthin, which is known to promote eye health.</p>
