In a state of Colorado proclamation, Gov. Jared Polis named Feb. 1 the Center for African and African American Studies Day in honor of ���� Boulder's CAAAS, which had its grand opening on Feb. 1.

The intermountain west innovation ecosystem came together at the fifth annual Destination Startup showcase on Feb. 15 and 16, hosted by Venture Partners at ���� Boulder. In a highly competitive field, 21 university ventures from intermountain west research institutions were selected to present at the showcase.

At the Colorado Board of Education February meeting, all of the School of Education’s teacher preparation programs were lauded and received sweeping reauthorization. С���� Boulder was praised for its “true partnerships” with districts and reading instruction, an area where very few other university programs have earned reauthorization on the first pass.

Students donated 1,966 meal swipes as part of the Swipe it Forward event, which encouraged students with meal plans to “pay it forward” and support their fellow Buffs. The meal swipes will now be available as emergency meal cards to students in need of extra support.

Two professors are being recognized for inventions that could have “real impact on the welfare of society.” Corrella Detweiler and Wei Zhang have been named senior members of the National Academy of Inventors.
