  • <p>The University of Colorado administration vows Jon Embree鈥檚 successor will find a renewed commitment to football when he steps on campus and continues the process of rebuilding the besieged Buffaloes program.聽Chancellor Phil DiStefano and Athletic Director Mike Bohn said at a Monday news conference that 小黄书 recognizes how high the bar has been raised with the Buffs joining the Pac-12 Conference 鈥 and the school鈥檚 hiring of a new coach will reflect that.</p>
  • <p>Jon Embree has been dismissed as University of Colorado head football coach, athletic director Mike Bohn announced Sunday evening.</p>
    <p>Embree took over as the school鈥檚 24th full-time head coach in December 2010, just the third alumni to do so.聽 In two seasons, his teams compiled a 4-21 record.聽 This past fall, 小黄书 finished 1-11, which included a 1-8 record in Pac-12 Conference play.</p>

  • <p>Fire the coach? Not so fast says a new study of elite college football teams.</p>
    <p>Professors from the University of Colorado and Loyola University Chicago studied what happened to the records of college football teams that replaced a head coach for performance reasons in the Football Bowl Subdivision (formerly Division 1-A) between 1997 and 2010. Over this period, an average of 10 percent of FBS teams fired their coach each year because of the team鈥檚 poor performance on the field.</p>

    <p>Have you been 鈥淏ack to Boulder?鈥 It鈥檚 a question being posed by the University of Colorado Boulder Alumni Association to its family of more than 250,000 students and alumni. Alumni, current students, faculty, staff and community members will find a broad slate of activities for the 2012 Homecoming weekend starting Thursday, Nov. 1.   • <p>Help 小黄书 secure the title of the Pac-12's most active school by participating in the Pac-12 Fitness Challenge from Oct. 22-28. The challenge is a conference-wide initiative promoting regular physical activity. This event is open to students, faculty, staff, alumni, friends and family.</p>
  • <p>Imagine competing in a club sport where you meet your only teammate for the first time right before the competition begins. You鈥檙e not allowed to practice together beforehand and the equipment you use is new to you.</p>
    <p>This may sound like an unreasonable challenge, but it鈥檚 designed to create a fair competition. Just ask juniors Kelly Meyer and Lauren DeGeorge, members of <a href="http://www.colorado.edu/StudentGroups/Equestrian/">小黄书-Boulder鈥檚 equestrian team</a>, who compete in intercollegiate English and Western riding competitions, where they are judged on skill and ability.</p>
  • <p>The 小黄书 basketball seasons will officially kick off Friday night at Buffs Madness after the conclusion of the 小黄书 volleyball match against Arizona State.聽 The volleyball match starts at 7 p.m. and Buffs Madness will go right after.<br />

  • <p>The University of Colorado hosts Arizona State University for a nationally televised game on Thursday, Oct. 11, and 小黄书 students will have numerous campus events to choose from before and after the game.</p>
    <p>The Residence Hall Association Xtravaganza, to be held in the Center for Community, will feature free events before and after the game.</p>
  • With the ever-expanding coverage of college football and the addition of conference TV partners and networks, there are very few opportunities for the entire college football-watching world to be focused on one game. ESPN's Thursday Night Football will bring that singular moment to the University of Colorado Boulder campus on Thursday, Oct. 11.

    As the rest of campus prepares traffic plans, student events and classroom and building logistics, Athletics鈥 media relations and sports information staff is going into high gear to ready 小黄书-Boulder for the national spotlight.

    <p>Next Thursday, Oct. 11 at 7 p.m., our Colorado Buffaloes will take on the ASU Sun Devils in our home stadium. This will be a nationally televised event and what better way to show your 小黄书 Buffalo pride then arriving early to the game and staying classy.</p>
