Community of Love: С�� Boulder Staff Council Hosts February Campus Blood Drive

This February, donate blood to show your love! С�� Boulder Staff Council, in partnership with our partner Vitalant, is excited to announce the February Blood Drive! Every donation can save up to three lives, directly impacting individuals facing medical emergencies, surgeries, or chronic illnesses. Join us to help ensure love flows where it’s needed most!

💡 Why Donate?

Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood. Hospitals and medical facilities depend on voluntary donors to maintain a steady blood supply for life-saving treatments. Your donation ensures that those in critical need receive the care they deserve.

🔹 Our Goal:

We are striving to collect 60 units per day, and with your help, we can surpass this goal and make a lasting impact in our community. Please share and encourage others to donate blood and support those in our local community.

🔹 How to Prepare:

Review Basic Eligibility Requirements
Eat a nutritious meal and stay hydrated before your donation
Bring a valid photo ID
Get a good night's sleep the night before

Staff Council is committed to inclusivity and understands that some may not be eligible to donate. We invite all to be involved in other ways. The Staff Council Blood Drive and Community Service Committee meets the third Tuesday of every month from 10-11am via zoom. We’d love to have you join us!

Employee Health & Well-Being has a new health innovation pilot program called С�� Recharge, which debuted at the Employee Health & Wellness Fair this past November. С�� Recharge is a fast, efficient, strength workout you can do in your work clothes that utilizes EGYM equipment. The EGYM circuit features one biometric hub and five smart strength machines that work together to deliver a full‑body workout. С�� Recharge is inclusive of all fitness levels, provides a guided, personalized workout, is beginner-friendly, and allows you to make health and wellness a priority. Small workouts = big impact.

A short onboarding session with one of our С�� Rec trainers is necessary before participating in С�� Recharge. Visit the С�� Recharge website to learn more about the program and EGYM.

February is American Heart Month

In addition to Staff Council’s Blood Drive, there are several events taking place during February to keep your heart healthy and improve your overall cardiovascular health.

From cooking and exercise classes to free blood pressure checks, there are a plethora of activities to keep your heart pumping. For a complete list of events, reference the Employee Health and Well-being Heart Health Website.

Spotlight Series

Employee Health & Well‑Being created the Well‑being Spotlight Series, which highlights faculty and staff who model prioritizing well‑being for themselves and others. These stories celebrate their contributions while offering practical, relatable inspiration for weaving well‑being into everyday life. If you know a person who lives and breathes employee wellness, nominate them for EHWB’s spotlight series!

This March is Buffs All In—С�� Boulder’s month-long season of giving, culminating on March 31 with a celebration of philanthropy. Together through collective giving, С�� Boulder’s community empowers the university to advance student support, research, sustainability and excellence across campus and beyond. Gifts received throughout March will count toward the Buffs All In fundraising total.

There are three ways that staff can participate:

Use the Buffs All In internal toolkit to promote giving day to your unit’s constituents. Log in to Sharepoint with your С�� credentials to access the toolkit.
Sign up to be a Buffs All In advocate and spread the word to your personal network. Registration will open in March, and advocates will receive access to a toolkit and personalized fundraising link to track your impact.
Find the funds you want to support and give during March. Together, each contribution builds on the others to create collective impact and help С�� Boulder offer solutions to the issues that matter. Learn more about last year’s impact.

The С�� Green Labs Awards will be presented for the twelfth year at the 2026 Campus Sustainability Summit in April.

Nominations are open to members of the С�� Boulder campus and will be evaluated based on the following:

Overall beneficial impact and long-term impact.
How the effort set an example for others.
How the effort goes above and beyond expected job duties and what is expected by campus or in a typical research environment.

Nominations must be received by March 2, 2026.

The С�� Green Labs Awards will be presented at the Campus Sustainability Summit in April and nominations must be received by March 2, 2026.

Each year, the Alumni Association awards more than $300,000 in scholarships, and we need your help to review student applications. Be a Buff who gives back by volunteering your time to help review thousands of scholarship applications for the 2026-2027 school year!

Scholarship reviews take place electronically at your own pace over a period of two weeks, and most volunteers find their initial time commitment to be four hours on average.

С�� staff, research faculty and their families are invited to get hands-on with all things science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) at С�� Science Discovery’s annual Family STEAMfest! This free community event features a variety of fun, hands-on STEM demonstrations and activities appropriate for a wide range of ages.

In an effort to make the day enjoyable for employees and their kids of all ages, we are seeking your collaboration! We would like to organize a list of activities offered throughout the day for our employees. We are also planning a kick off celebration in the morning. Please email j.sandoval@colorado.edu, Nicole.Morris-2@colorado.edu , and staffcouncil@colorado.edu to let us know if your unit would like to participate by providing activities, tours, admission, etc., or if you would like a table at the morning event. We realize there is a decent amount of time before this event and hope that getting the word out early will help units plan a way to be involved and make it a great day! Submissions are due by April 1st. Thank you!
