The National Student Speech-Language-Hearing Association (NSSLHA) is the only official student organization recognized by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). Founded in 1972, NSSLHA supports undergraduate and graduate students interested in communication sciences and disorders, including speech, language, hearing, and cognition.

Today, NSSLHA is an international network of 13,000+ students at more than 300 colleges and universities.

The University of Colorado Boulder NSSLHA Chapter has been a recognized student organization within the Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences (SLHS) Department since 2008.

Our chapter builds a strong campus community of undergraduate students, graduate students, faculty, and staff who share an interest in speech-language pathology and audiology.

What We Do

С»ÆÊé Boulder NSSLHA members are active on campus and in the community through:

  • Fundraising and community service in the Boulder–Denver area
    • Support for local schools and organizations
    • Donations to Denver Reads, Treacher Collins Connection, and the С»ÆÊé SLHS Department
    • Funding a cleft palate surgery for a child without health insurance
  • Child Learning Center (CLC) events
    • Twice-yearly family nights with cookie decorating, storytime, crafts, and games
  • Volunteer opportunities
    • Scottish Rite Holiday Party for families served by Children’s Hospital
    • Family Night at the CLC
  • Professional development
    • Graduate Student Panels for undergraduates
    • Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLP-A) panels
    • Guest lectures from visiting professionals

Membership also helps support С»ÆÊé students in attending the annual ASHA Convention.


Meetings & Getting Involved

  • NSSLHA meets monthly during the academic year
  • Meeting dates are announced via email
  • Students of all levels are welcome to join
