Your academic record has been carefully reviewed following the posting of grades for the Fall 2025 semester. You have not met the required 2.000 cumulative С�� GPA minimum, therefore, you have been placed on academic alert.

Academic alert is recoverable if you take the appropriate actions. For more information, view С�� Boulder’s academic standing requirements.

What Happens on Academic Alert?

A registration hold related to your academic alert status has been placed on your record.

Your unofficial transcript will show that you are on academic alert, but this will not appear on your official transcript. Additionally, you are still eligible to enroll in classes as long as you have resolved your hold(s).

If you improve your cumulative С�� GPA to 2.000 by the end of your next semester of enrollment after being placed on academic alert, you will return to good academic standing. Students who do not earn a cumulative С�� GPA of 2.000 while on academic alert will be placed on academic warning. Students can use summer to return to good academic standing, but summer enrollment that negatively impacts GPA will not result in academic warning.

Federal regulations require students to make satisfactory academic progress in a program of study to be eligible for financial aid. For additional information, see the Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Policy webpage.

We sent this email on Monday, Dec. 22, 2025, to students whose COF authorization selection was affected by a UIS system error.

Dear [first],

We identified a system error that impacted your College Opportunity Fund (COF) authorization. When you completed your preregistration tasks for Spring 2026, you made a selection for COF authorization. This selection also updated your authorization for the Fall 2025 semester in addition to spring, which you may not have wanted.

How to Review Your Current COF Authorization

Go to the College Opportunity Fund (COF) card in Buff Portal (you may be required to log in).
Click View your COF status.
On the COF Authorization/Review page, view the COF Details section for your Fall 2025 status. If the section doesn’t display for you, click Update Authorization to review.

Your Next Steps

If you are happy with your COF status for Fall 2025, no action is needed on your part.

If you’d like to refuse COF for Fall 2025, please contact us before Friday, Jan. 9 and we can assist in updating your COF authorization. After this date, we can no longer change your COF status for Fall 2025, only your status for future terms.

About COF

COF is a stipend that pays a portion of your in-state tuition on a per-credit-hour basis. When you authorize COF, you can choose lifetime authorization or refuse authorization. If you refuse authorization, you’ll be responsible for paying full tuition for the term indicated.

Note: For doctoral (AuD, DMA and PhD) students, the last day to update your diploma name and address was Monday, Dec. 8. Transcripts with these degrees posted became available to order on Monday, Dec. 15.

Friday, Jan. 2, 2026

Last day for undergraduate and master's students to update your diploma name and address. If you don't enter a diploma address, we'll mail your diploma to your home address instead.

International delivery: We've been running into significant delays and complications with international delivery of diplomas and other documents. We strongly advise you to enter a local/domestic diploma address to ensure delivery to yourself or a trusted individual.

Transcripts with undergraduate and master's degrees posted are available for order after 5 p.m. If you don't have a hold preventing the release of your transcript, you can order an official transcript online.

Transcripts with certificates posted are available for order after 5 p.m.

Wednesday, Jan. 28

Your complimentary certified electronic diploma is ready to download and your paper diploma is mailed out. Please allow four to six weeks for domestic delivery.

Diploma covers: Many academic colleges and departments and distributed diploma covers during their 2025 Winter Recognition Ceremonies. If you still need one, you may pick one up at the Office of the Registrar during normal business hours free of charge.

Wednesday, Feb. 4

If you earned one, your complimentary certified electronic certificate is ready to download and your paper certificate is mailed out. Please allow four to six weeks for domestic delivery.

Your advance enrollment verification will be available until the first day of classes, Thursday, Jan. 8. After that, your current-semester verification for spring will update in mid-February.

Note: These verifications display your financial aid enrollment status only. Some graduate students qualify as full- or half-time based on their academic load, but as only half- or less-than-half-time based on their financial aid load. If you're one of those students, you may need to email the Office of the Registrar to discuss your options.

Effective Spring 2022, grade replacement is applied automatically at the end of each semester when a student repeats an eligible course, and there is no longer a limit to the number of credit hours students can use for grade replacement. However, some academic programs have limits on the number of course repeats allowed for specific courses or number of attempts for degree applicability.

Note: Grade replacement may be revoked by action of the Office of Student Conduct if an honor code violation is found to have occurred.

About Your Transcript & GPA

Remember, under grade replacement the grade you earned in your most recent prior attempt will still appear on your transcript, but it will be replaced in your cumulative GPA and credit totals by the grade from your latest attempt as long as that grade is the same or better.

As a continuing graduate student, you're able to register now. Registration remains open through open enrollment, which begins Monday, Jan. 5, 2026.

If you're a master's or doctoral student working only on your thesis or dissertation, we encourage you to reach out to your faculty advisor to make plans for the spring semester.

Your College Opportunity Fund (COF) stipend can't be applied to your bill because you didn't include your Social Security number (SSN) in your COF application.

COF was created by the Colorado Legislature to pay a portion of total in-state tuition for eligible undergrads. There's no limit to the number of students who receive it, and you never have to pay it back.

To Correct Your Record

To resolve this error, follow our step-by-step instructions to update your record by 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 5, 2025.

Do not email anything containing your SSN. Doing so could put you at high risk for identity theft.

We'll securely send your information to College Assist. Once the error is resolved, follow our instructions to authorize COF by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 12, 2025.
