First -Year Class Advisor (FYCA)

The First-Year CA Fellows support transformational leadership development by providing meaningful opportunities to the PLC community.Ìý

First-Year CA Fellows work towards personal, professional, and leadership growth through research, planning, design, iteration, and implementation of the following activities:

  • Attending lecture twice a week to take attendance, ensure students are in dress code, are attentive and respectful to lecturers.
  • Using the PLC Design Process to create and present CA lectures on assigned topics throughout the semester.
  • Assisting in evaluating weekly reflections and other larger assignments like essays.
  • Facilitating small group discussions in class to promote academic and leadership growth for students.
  • Cultivating positive, trusting, and respectful classroom culture.
  • Academically supporting first year students through major projects, such as presentations, team teaches, memos, and essays.
  • Supporting students through their educational experience and their PLC journey.

FLEXD fellows must pursue excellence and personal improvement because we need innovative and ethical leaders who are going to create meaningful change.
