We are not seeking budgets or detailed plans, but rather big questions and transformative ideas. We are looking for ideas with big IMPACT—ideas may have small or large budgets, may take months or years to implement and can involve a few individuals or many parts of campus. &nbsp;Anyone can submit any type of idea, with emphasis on the potential for big impact on our campus community for decades to come. &nbsp;</span></p><p><span>Review of ideas will begin the week of March 24, right after Spring Break. We encourage you to submit your ideas before then, though our submission form will remain open to additional ideas for ongoing review. In addition, we will hold “office hours” beginning the first week of March where we (Stefanie and Waleed) will be available to answer questions and hear ideas you may have. This will be followed shortly thereafter with a World Café style of idea sharing. This month invites continued learning, reflection, and dialogue around equity, inclusion, and belonging.</p><p>Black History Month began as “Negro History Week,” established in 1926 by historian Carter G. Woodson. Woodson chose February to honor the birthdays of Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass, both deeply connected to Black history. Please note an employee can only earn one referral bonus for a new hire (meaning they cannot get two referral bonuses for the same employee). If an employee is re-hired (who had earned a referral bonus previously), a current employee (even if he/she is not the original referrer), cannot earn a second referral bonus for the re-hired staff member. As a reminder, the <a href="/hr/hiring/staff#promotions_amp_transfers-1099" rel="nofollow">С Boulder HR promotions and transfers webpage</a> outlines how employees may express interest in other transfer and promotional opportunities.</p><p><strong>Buff Bus Drivers</strong></p><p>$500 referral bonuses are available to current С staff who refer new (not returning) CDL-licensed bus drivers to our team: a one-time $500 bonus will be paid out to the referring employee after the new hire reaches six months of employment. Bus driver bonuses do not apply to referrals for CDL-trainees.</p><p><strong>Transportation Fleet Mechanics</strong></p><p>$500 referral bonuses are available to current С staff who refer new (not returning) fleet mechanics to our team: a one-time $500 bonus will be paid out to the referring employee after the new hire reaches six months of employment.</p><p><strong>Groundskeepers</strong></p><p>$200 referral bonuses are available to current С staff: a one-time $200 bonus will be paid out to the referring employee after the new recruit reaches three months of employment.</p><p><strong>Custodians</strong></p><p>$200 referral bonuses are available to current С staff who refer new custodians to our team: a one-time $200 bonus will be paid out to the referring employee after the new recruit reaches three months of employment.</p><p><strong>Material Handlers</strong></p><p>$300 referral bonuses are available to current С staff who refer new material handlers to our team: a one-time $300 bonus will be paid out to the referring employee after the new recruit reaches six months of employment.</p><p><span><strong>Trades (Mechanics/Journeyman/Technicians)</strong></span></p><p><span>$500 referral bonuses are available to current С staff who refer new trades workers to our team: a one-time $500 bonus will be paid out to the referring employee after the new recruit reaches six months of employment. Referral-eligible trades positions include mechanics, journeymen, and technicians.</span></p><p><span><strong>Utility and Energy Services (technical positions only, clerical positions are excluded from this referral program)</strong></span></p><p><span>$500 referral bonuses are available to current С staff who refer new technical (non-clerical) workers to join our Utility and Energy Services (UES) team. This bonus is available for UES technical positions posted on or after Jan. 7, 2026 (not retroactive for past positions). The bonus will be payable within 30 days after the referred utility plant operator (UPO) is fully qualified (B&amp;C, CHP programs completed and passed both board qualification exams). Other bonuses will be paid out to the referring employee after the new recruit reaches six months of employment.</span></p><hr><p>We are offering these referral bonuses to any current С staff member (classified or University staff) in a .50 FTE (50%) or greater position. Anyone involved in the hiring process for the positions above (including direct supervisors, hiring managers, appointing authorities and HR) will not be eligible for the referral bonus program. <span>New recruits must come from outside the Infrastructure &amp; Resilience team. If a current I&amp;R/Facilities Management staff member is being promoted or transferred into one of the positions above, neither that person, nor that person’s colleagues, are eligible for referral bonuses.
