Mental Health First Aid training helps a person with no clinical training assist someone experiencing a mental health or substance use challenge or crisis. Participants are introduced to risk factors and warning signs, engage in experiential activities, discuss relevant professional and self-help resources, and learn a 5-step strategy to provide support. Mental Health First Aid for higher education provides tailored content for members of the higher education community.
Instructors: This training will be led by professional staff from Health and Wellness Services.
Time: Training runs for a full day from about 8:30 am to about 5 pm (with intermittent short breaks and a break for lunch)
Cost: None. The Department of Health Promotion sponsors the cost of this training for participants.Â
